Comp Rs fell apart
I had two of them where the pin holding on the roller was really loose, it came out on one the little metal rods fell out of the roller, is it possible to get two new Comp Rs, the rest seem fine, no groove on the roller, slight discolored from wear I guess but couldnt feel a groove in them.

Re: Comp Rs fell apart
Cool, theres about 4 in question, the pin holding the roller on is kinda loose, hate for needle bearings to come apart, what could cause that? I'll let you take a look at them when your in town in a couple weeks.

Re: Comp Rs fell apart
After hearing this story over and over (compR failures) I sold a brand new set on Ebay for a loss rather than install them in a new motor with alot of $$ invested.
I ordered a set of Morrel's and just took the loss. They are expensive but damn nice.

Re: Comp Rs fell apart
I had about half my comp R's blow up, so i have about 7-8 ones that are still good if you need some i'd sell you all the ones i have left. You'll need the extras for replacements because those things are junk.

Re: Comp Rs fell apart
I dont plan to run them, I'm hearing to many things from LT1 guys I trust and who know their stuff. At this point I may just leave the motor stock and do heads and cam in a bottle.

Re: Comp Rs fell apart
Call comp and they'll sent you a new set and if you're lucky you can sell them to offset buying lifters that aren't pieces of ****.
Edit - That's what I did, but that was back when everybody just started figuring out they are pieces.

Re: Comp Rs fell apart
I had the trunnion roller bearing come apart on my Crane Gold narrow-body self-aligning rockers.
I counted the rollers I found to make sure I found them all, and took the Cranes off permanently.
I've been running Crower Stainless Steel ever since (35K miles) with no problems.
