comp magnums vs pro magnums

Currently I'm running the 1.6 comp magnums so what would you think I would gain by switching to 1.6 comp pro magnums?

I don't think you're really going to gain anything. The valve train may be a little more stable, but I don't think the results will be worth the cost.

Since they are the same rocker ratio, I doubt you would see much of an improvement. Maybe some reduced friction with the extra bearing on the pro-mags.

I have a couple of questions though.

How high do you spin the motor with the magnums, and are they noisy. You don't use guideplates right, since I think the magnums are self aligning. Is that correct?

I'm looking at picking up the magnums instead of the pro-magnums, but had these questions.

I spin to 6450 when I shift but rev limiter is 6700 and I've hit it a few times when I didn't have it programmed for the right tire height. The rockers are a little noisy but no worse than any other 1.6's. They are nsa so they do use guideplates.

Thanks. I didn't know Comp made NSA magnums. I can't find them in their catalog. All I see are SA magnums. What's the part #?

GM put full rollers in the LT4 to avoid galling problems above 6300 rpm with stamped rockers. At higher rpms and with stiffer springs the full rollers will run cooler because of less friction.
There won't be any significant hp difference.

So if I choose either the Crane 210/224, or the CC XE218/224 and never spin past 6000-6200 rpm, I should be o.k with the Magnums?

I've always used Mobil 1 synthetic oil, so that should help too right?

I used to spin to 6,200 with my stock valvetrain. Made 180 passes that way before I put Pro Magnum's on. There is no significant wear on my stock rockers either. Maybe I got lucky. They survived.

I would think that if the spring pressure is not too high you would be fine. And synthetic oil can't hurt.
