comp cams xfi lobes

i have been considering going with the comp cam cc502 or the 268xfi. both are 218/224 duration but the xfi has a higher lift. what is it with the lobes of these particular grinds? people have said that the lobes and the ramps of these cams (more so the xfi) are very aggressive and will hurt valve train components even if they are upgraded. my vehicle will be a daily driver and i don't want to have to replace my springs every 15-20 thousand miles because they are worn out.

I am installing the CC502 in my car with LE1 heads and LE intake. I like the cam compared to the XFI version simply due to the fact that it will not kill my Crane 10308s.

have you heard about either one of these cams breaking springs considering the right spring was used and installation was correct?

I am running 1.65rr on my 503 cam with 987 springs. Lift in sig. 4K miles and running fine on the stock hardened pushrods and lifters.

With a CC503 I wouldn't worry about breaking a spring due to the cam. If they break with a small cam like that I would be looking at an install problem or defective product.

Well if you look at the track results from the 503 you'll see many people have had great success with them. Looking at the cam specs of the xfi stuff compared to some of the specs I've seen from the custom cams and the larger cams that break the 400rwhp mark, I'd rather stay down here and make less power for a lot more reliability. Then you can throw the nitrous on if it isn't enough.

Too bad I pass alot of people with the "503" cam with similar mods.
I have around 10k miles on my setup and its been doing well.
Torque is very flat from 2k on up to redline.
It has a real subtle idle too.
Get a good set of springs and you won't have to worry ( comp 918's or pac 1513).
XFI lobes were designed for beehives.
BTW I did not forget about you work owns me right now.
