This is making me nervous...I don't have the box that my 918s came in anymore, but I do have a pic of the box from when I first bought them. Problem is I don't know how to zoom in so I can read the batch #

Can someone help me zoom in on my batch # please? I'd like to find out if mine are any good before I start my motor for the fisrt time

Here's the only pic I have...

I can make out part of it... I think.

XX597, I cannot make out the first 2 numbers. It's very hard to see from the flash of the camera.

Yeah it's hard to read. Thanks for the effort though

I really wish I had kept the box or wrote down the batch # or something now

Although when I bought these in 03/06 there were no reports of failure...

I must have missed that info As far as I knew, Lloyd and Bret were still using these when I bought mine. I thought I was buying the best out there

And I bet there's no way that I'll ever be able to return mine to comp or be reinbursed for the money that I spent on these all because I threw away the box already. If I had only known.

So i talked to red in Comp Cams warranty claims today about the situation with the 918's . He sent me a new set of 918's and told me word for word...
"I ASSURE you that you will not have any issues with these new springs . These springs that we have on our shelves are different than the ones you have" . So my question is should i just throw on the new 918's and trust theyre good this time around ? Red said theyll have the affected batch numbers within the next couple of weeks and what happened to make them that way . I also have not got a chance to pull my valve covers yet to check my springs . BUT their batch number is 49826 which is one that other people have been having failures with . Any advice is helpful . Thanks

I have 10K on mine sofar and while I have not pulled any springs off the heads last time I was under the covers all looked go sofar.

Food for thought, how aggressive were the cams you guys with broken spring were running?

I know some people like to think they can run some truely nasty lobes on the street and that is a recipe for broken springs. What "works" and what "lasts" are not necessarily the same thing.

I have the LE 1.5 which is similar to a CC503. I busted 3 springs in 20 miles on heads built by LE. Hardly nasty lobes or nasty cam. Comp has admitted that there is a problem with the quality of the more recent batches.
