Comp Cam Help/Advice
Comp Cam Help/Advice
I'm sure this is a question for the ages that pops up a lot but I have to ask.
My car is in my sig and it is basically stock. I want a fairly decent power increases so I'm looking into running a comp cam with stock heads and stock intake. Mod's that will be done is full exhaust, thermostat, maf, cai and air foil. Those are just the definates. Here is where it gets confusing to me.
I was looking into doing a CC306 and 1.6 RR's. If I do this I'm assuming I can't run my stock computer and I'll need a tune right? What kind of power numbers do you think I'll put done to the rear wheels with a combo like that? Do I need to run high than my stock 3.42's in the rear?
If you guys can recommend any other combo's please let me know, I'm very open to idea's. I'm just exploring my options right now because I'd like to get this project done this winter while my car is hibernating.
Any advice and ro opinions is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Comp Cam Help/Advice
I am running the exact setup your talking but with 3.73 gears. I get some cam surging if cruising in the 1600 rpm range above is fine. You lose quite a bit of bottom end torque with this cam and the 3.42's it'll feel worse. If you're planning to keep it this way and not port heads ever then I wouldn't pick this cam. I put out the #'s in my sig. Definantely can't use stock tune to get the #'s though. You don't need to change the MAF so use that money for a tune.
Re: Comp Cam Help/Advice
I want to go with 3.90's or 4.10's in the rear so hopefully that'll make up for the lose of bottom end torque.
Your making that power with stock intake and heads?
Out of curiosity how much would a cam, rocker arms and springs install cost?
What kind of rocker arms and springs are you running?
I'd like to port my stock heads and intake down the road but I'll probably be running the setup with stock heads and intake for a about a year. Is that bad?
Thanks for the help.
