Question Comp 875-16 Lifters & valve lash question

O.K. I had a couple of guys on my local camaro board tell me that the 875-16 lifters are to be set at "0" lash. Anyone hear of this?

I will contact comp tomorrow about this.

Thanks

They are correct, trust me. I had mine set at 1/2 turn past zero lash not knowing they were supposed to be at just 0 lash, and it felt like I was hitting a brick wall at 6400. It just flat out quit pulling, like I hit a rev limiter. I checked everything, then posted a thread about it, and sure enough, someone told me to back off to just 1/16-1/8 past 0 lash. I did that, and it pulls to 6900 everytime now. That was exactly my problem. I have a few friends at just 0 lash with no problems, so just go anywhere from 0 lash to 1/8 turn past, and you should be fine
Edit: Read this thread....

Hmm, excellent info there, I did not know that!

I'm also running Comp R's that are currently at 1/2 past zero lash also. I'll try to readjust them as you describe.

damn, guess my old school engine builder knows more than i thought. I had this argument with him and he kept insisting on zero lash. I thought this would let the lifters bleed.

The Comp R's don't have as much travel as the stock lifters. If you are going to run them at 6900, then you might want them more loose. I don't rev mine that high and 1/2 turn is perfectly fine. Bottom line=one recommended setting does not fit all.
