The out of the box CC305 will, and a CC503 will be lucky if it does it's right on the edge of what would pass.

i knew that the 305 would pass but wasnt sure if the 503 would. how much of a difference is there in lope and shift RPMs in a 6 speed? any ideas on how much they will hurt gas milage?

Are you moving to the socialist republic of California? Who cares in Texas?

As Bret said, it's close and will totally depend on the tune. I have heard of
CA cars passing with a 503, but it's on the edge.

The LE1 emissions cam is on the edge too but you just have to know what you are looking for in terms of cam specs, basically overlap area, to get one to pass the sniffer.

Bret, does only overlap at .005 lift matter? or does advertised duration overlap matter? Which one is really more important in terms of emissions? Thank god i don't have emissions, its just something i've always wondered.

Overlap in total... takes some calc to figure out the area of it (thank god for computers) and I have some maximums that I will not cross in terms of .050 duration overlap.

That makes since. I didn't think if it in terms of area, just only in degrees of duration. I'm just glad i'm gonna get a custom cam from you.

I hate working around emissions... things are a pain in the *** and not productive to HP. The motor I'm designing for the SS has to pass the sniffer, but I'll change the dam cam before I go test lol...

I passed with the 503 barely. The cat was brand new. It took me 2 times to do it but it did it! In fact, the only one it didn't pass was the NOX the first time. Make sure your engine is HOT!
