Comp 306 RWHP numbers on a 383?

we just got my buddies car going, it's a 383 with the 306 cam and stock ported heads with longtubes and bigger throttle body. It's not tuned as of yet. Just guessing what kind of RWHP is he going to be looking at after a good tune?

It really depends upon the head flow, but I've seen some 306 cars really run well in 383s. I'd guess with decent heads he should be around the380- 400 RWHP mark.

I tuned Todd Smith's (TWS) 383 a couple years ago. Had a cc306 and AFR190's. Put down 432rwhp 468 rwtq.

A friend of mine with a MTI built 383 w/ GTP heads/306 cam in a six-speed was in the 120mph range at the Texas Motorplex on a good day. Normal summer days it was in the 118 range. This with stock weight and stock tires/3.42 gears. I think his dyno was in the 419rwhp and 390rwtq.

Like was said above the HP output will depend entirely on the build. If things are done half way decent he should be able to put down 400rwhp.

I wouldn't see why not. I am using fully ported and polished heads and intake with all the good bolt on stuff, going all out not skimping on anything, and also getting it dyno tuned. so I dont think 400 is unreachable

Big Rick's 383 with that cam and ported LT1 heads made 420s.
