Ive been browsing lately and i came by this custom cold air intake set up. My car is a '96 z-28, with traction control, so i couldnt get a K&N intake set. I found this SLP intake. Is this a good set up or no?

not sure if i just want to stick with my 25 dollar spectre air filter.

 

Maybe give the LPE (Lingenfelter) CAI a look that costs only $150 or so on their website. Haven't heard a bad thing about it, I wouldn't personally spend $280 for the SLP unit thats quite steep.

 

Id buy a cheaper one then that slp, no reason to pay 280 for a cai.

Buy a used one, save alot of money.

 

I would get the LPE or Moroso. The LPE is cheaper and, in the end, they are pretty much all the same.

dont settle for the cheap ebay stuff though!

 

Buy an Ebay one, honestly paying 60$ for one ebay and near 300$ for an expensive one is probably going to net you like 2 hp difference. I sport the ebay one w/ a K&N cone.

 

i bought the ebay special and i have no complaints. i bought it for 72 shipped. i didnt want to spend $300 because im upgrading to a turbo setup. its a good buy if you have forced induction plans in the future.

 

I paid $75 shipped for a used Moroso.

But if you insist on going new and are on a tight budget then the Ebay ones may work, but fitting may be a problem. Be careful.

 

So, Has anyne ran the SLP CAI system here? I'm not worried about the price I just wanted to see if anyone has ran it and what they thought of it?

 

i don't think anyone can convince themselves to fork out 280 bucks for a CAI...

 

I can its for my brothers birthday and he fell in love with that kit and I want to get him interested into cars and if thats what it costs for me to get him interested then its well worth it....

 

No reason to buy a $280 CAI I don't care what the reason is. Thats like paying $800 for a cast piston cause it looked cool.

 

I have the SLP CAI. Not a single complaint and it looks great under the hood. I have the Chrome version, so maybe that helps in the looks department.

I have been thinking about selling it lately though. The chrome just doesn't really go with the look I am after. The twin filters look nifty too. If you decide to go with the SLP, you will not be disapointed except for the empty space in the wallet.
