When car heats up and you stomp gas quickly car tries to die, acts like it is running out of gas. New wires didnt help, could it be a coil? Also put new fuel filter on it. Opti spark and plugs have 40k on them.

 

A weak coil would be a possibility. It would also feel sluggish on the top end when you have your foot all the way down. It could also be low fuel pressure. You would need to check that with a test gauge. Might be a couple of other possibilities, too.
