Is coating Necessary???

I am going to buy a set of MAC mid-lengths for my car. I don't drive it in the winter, rarely drive in the rain and it's always stored in a garage. I am just wondering if ceramic coating is necessary?

If they are stainless the answer is yes,they will oxydise [on the surface] and look like shot,in perfect condition but look awfull !!!!!
