Coating on MAC headers...HTS???? quality????

Does anyone know what the quality of the HTS coating on the MAC headers/y pipe for the 94-95 camaro setup? How long does it last?

Thumbs down

High Temp Silicon = CRAP. I had two MAC cat-back systems and both rusted out. I should have bought the SLP 2OTL to begin with. I also have the coated SLP headers. The coating on them is not that great, but at least they are not rusting. I would stay away from MAC products.

very few people that have used MAC headers have had any serious problems with the coating. It doesn't typically last like the Jet-hot would, but its a helluva lot cheaper (and Jet-hot has been having some issues with coatings lately too from what I hear)

Go with the MACs you won't be disappointed.

The HTS coating that come on MAC headers are garbage. I would highly recommend getting them Jet Hot coated.

The coating will rust and come off. Get them Jet-Hot coated. It'll cost a few more dollars, but it'll be worth it. Otherwise, they were great header.

I just got put my jet-hot coated mac's in a week ago and so far no rust. The coating looks great. I'll tell ya in about a year or two how the coating is holding up. From what I've read, no matter which headers you get, get them coated (and the jet-hot coating does look very nice). I got my mac's from Jet-hot for only $550 coated and to the door. This is on a '94, and the y-pipe was also coated, so it was a pretty good deal.
Anyways, mac's are awesome (VERY easy to install, too)

Later
Ryan

did you get those directly from jethot? or did you just get them coated from there? if so, do you think they would coat just the shorties w/o the y-pipe for cheaper?

Go with the MAC headers, you will not be dissappointed. The HTS coating will not last very long, it scrapes easily when installing them. So get them jet hot coated, it is well worth it. I have had mine for about 2 years now, and the coating is as good as the first day that i got them. Jet Hot has great coatings.

Talk to chris at jet-hot, email chris@jet-hot.com . Jet hot recently started selling mac headers. I bought the headers and offroad pipe and got a great deal. I just got everything last week and it looks great, I can't wait to get them installed.

how much? im wanting to get the 94-95 headers/ypipe kit, and only want the headers coated though if it will save $, i've found the headers w/y-pipe as cheap as 379 at horsepower sale's website, that is without coating of course, do u think i could get it all done cheaper if i bought the headers/ypipe kit and then shipped jet hot the headers only to be coated
