CM 612 Springs on the LE1 Heads
CM 612 Springs on the LE1 Heads
Can anyone give me a link to these springs? tese are combinationmotorsports springs correct? They come on the LE1 heads, which i am thinking of buying, but i need the specs on these springs to make sure that they will be okay on a cam with around a .569 lift. I tryed finding the springs through searches and CM but didnt have any luck.

springs are good to .600 lift, you should be fine unless your .569 is before 1.6 rrs, then you may be cutting it close.
Im sure lloyd would put some bigger springs on if you asked him.

Re: CM 612 Springs on the LE1 Heads
Nothing special about them, really. I have a set on my car with the GM847. I forget the lift with the 1.6s, but I think it is close to 600, no problems. There was a post a while back about someone breaking one, but I haven't heard of it being an epidemic. Also, there have been cases of comp's precious beehives breaking, so nothing is immune from some problems.
Re: CM 612 Springs on the LE1 Heads
Yeah i agree nothing is guaranteed that it will not break. I read the thread about the 612's breaking on that guy. I was going to go with the 918 beehives before i decided to go with LE1 heads. Now that i am going with the heads i just wanted to make sure that the springs can handle this cam. I dont know the exact lift yet, and its also before a 1.6 RR. So i guess once i find out the lift plus the additional lift from the 1.6 RR ill see if the spring can handle it. If your doing ok with the 847 cam i would think i should be ok. The 847 has more lift then .569 doesnt it?
Re: CM 612 Springs on the LE1 Heads
At .569 lift I would say forget about the 612's and step up to a good double spring or the beehives. I had Lloyd set up my heads with the CM 612's and I am running the XE 227/233, 560/569 camshaft. I get valve float at around 6100-6200 rpm with this cam. The 612's are a decent spring and have worked fine for some, but I say avoid chancing it and put a better spring on it to begin with. Otherwise you may be where I am right now. I have my car down at the moment awaiting a cam swap and a valve spring swap.
