Clutch master/slave cylinder

Last night when I went to push the clutch pedal as I got off the freeway, it made a grinding noise as I pushed it in, but I was still able to downshift. I tested it and tried to put it in another gear and pushed it in, this time it felt like all the brake fluid rushed out and it not only grinded but started to schreech. It also made a loud quick ticking like as piston being pushed in and out with no lubrication. I pulled over and killed the engine. Checked the fluid and it was full. I wasnt able to restart and had it towed.

Going by the ticking noise Im guessing its the master cylinder? The cars sitting outside my friends house, and wont start thanks to the clutch pedal being frozen. Any idea?
