"Clunking" noise occasionally on 1-2 shift @ 3/4 throttle

Ok.. symptoms:

- 95 Z28 Convertible, stock tranny, 109,000 miles (I think.. it's around there)

- Clunking noise SEEMING to come from directly under the armrest, it is pretty noticable, but only on the 1-2 shift @ more than 1/2 throttle. If I am just cruising, then NO clunking noise and perfect shifts.

What do you guys think ? Could it be anything other than tranny rebuild time ?

you did check the trans mount?

very very common with A4 cars and most noticeable during a shift at more the ~1/2 throttle

No I haven't checked anything yet. It just started doing this. If it's just the tranny mount that will kick ***.

torque arm mount is worth checking out too...pretty easy to check if you are checking the trans mount.

Same thing was happening to my 1997 A4 it feels like a hard hit from under the shifter. Just had my Trans Mount replaced with a energy Trans mount.

its most likely a transmission mount, I went through 3 stock type ones until I switched to an energy suspension mount. but be warned, the polyurethane mount will transmit vibrations considerably more than the rubber ones.

I doubt it's your trans mount. When mine went out it was banging from a dig when i accelerated hard, at only made a banging noise when i accelerated hard.

Transmission mount, use a pri bar to lift up on the transmission to see if the mount is torn.
