Are the clearances in the LT1 same as SBC?

I'm curious if the clearances in the LT1 are the same as the original small block Chevy, or are they tighter? I've always heard the bottom end of the LT1 is still basically a small block Chevy (in updated form)

I can't imagine anyone knowing the answer to what the tolerances are on the 2 engines except the engineers at GM. And good luck getting an answer from them.

I guess it's just something I never thought about.

Lots of people should know this info, anyone who has rebuilt their own engine, or simply has the service manuals would know the answer.

wellt he clearances are a bit tighter but not much. just like an engine form 1955 is alot looser on clearances than a 2003 engine.

http://www.automotiverebuilder.com/ar/ar99928.htm

that is a decent site aobut LT1s and rebuilds.

If you are talking about bearing clearances, piston to cyl wall etc.. they are teh same as a SBC, considering an LT1 is really just an SBC with diff cooling passages
