cleaning headers

Is there any way to clean my headers to prolong the ARMOR coating on them???

i have just seen pics of peoples engine bays with rusted headers after a while and i dont want mine to end up like that.

Is there any cleaning or protecting stuff i could use that is heat resistant????

thanks

Re: cleaning headers

What's "Armor" coating?

If this is some kind of ceramic coating you can shine it up a little with fine steel wool (maybe 00). Shine it too many times and you might not have a coating but I know a couple of show car guys who do this.

If it's paint then I don't know. Have em' coated.

Re: cleaning headers

yea if you store your car at all (especially outside), soak them in WD-40 -- BUT before you start it back up, rinse it all off really well. I did this with a car once that was only driven in the summer, after 5 years there was never any sign of rust (of course regular cleaning during the warm months as well)

--Some tell me WD-40 was bad to use on ceramic coating, but i've never had any problems. might wanna wait for more info on this..
