Cleaning fuel injectors

I have my fuel injectors out and they look very dirty around where the fuel is sprayed, is there any way to clean them out before I reinstall them?

Re: Cleaning fuel injectors

The absolute best way to clean them is in a sonic bath while they're being fired. If you have time to wait maybe you could try here.

I have no experience with this guy so I am not making any recommendations just providing info on the things available. He may be the best there is but I don't know.

The next best way to clean them is what I use. 3M makes a can of cleaner that you hook to the fuel rail and disable the fuel pump and the return line to the tank. The engine runs off the can for about 10 minutes and when it shuts down, it's cleaned. You can clean the outside with alcohol but the real problem is inside which needs to be opened and closed to really do.

This method may not be the best idea if you have the Multec injectors that come stock in the car. Due to their design, these injectors are prone to leak with the slightest particle that gets into them. The rail cleaning method can dislodge the rust, dirt, or anything else that collects under the fiter and forces it down into the "business end" of the injector. We have serviced many sets of injectors because of the customer having this done.
It does do a pretty fair job of cleaning the tops of the intake valves.
If they need cleaned, many injector shops can do that and also provide test data for a reasonable price.

Re: Cleaning fuel injectors

The stock injectors are not in the car. They are bigger aftermarket one because the car has the lt4 hot cam. I don't think it is the injectors now anyway. I put the stock injectors back in last night and the car did start but it was hard and it would barley run with the pedal on the floor. It would not run at all in idle. Does anyone have any suggestions??????? Thanks
