Question Cleaning/fixing IAC?

I need to check my IAC and see if it is dirty or maybe even replace it. I know it is on the TB but where? Also, how do I clean or check it? Thanks,

Kyle

do a search for Shoebox and then check his website to see if he has any photos on there. he has a ton of great information. not a bad website to add to your bookmarks.

IAC is on bottom of TB and a gasket set GM p/n 17113074 will cover the top and bottom gaskets.. [good time to clean the entire TB too..]

I just tried cleaning an intermittant IAC that was sitting dormant in a transplant motor for over a year. no luck. I used sea foam, wd-40, carb and choke cleaner, etc.

The Throttle body is held on with 4 10mm bolts, the IAC is on the bottom, held on by 2 T15 torx bolts. You need to replace the gasket on the TB, IAC has rubber o-ring. If you do decide to pull it apart to clean everything, make sure you oil the IAC with clean motor oil. I just dipped my finger in a bottle and wiped it over the IAC valve. I cleaned the bore out w/ a nut driver w/ a rag wrapped around it and soaked w/ sea foam.

I got a new one from NAPA for wholesale $57, walk in price is $107.

Good luck.
