checking the coil

are there any fix it/install guides for testing the coil. for example brent frankers home page. i looked under his fix it page, but did not see anything refering to checking the coil with a multimeter to see if it has gone bad.

You want to use the ohm-meter portion to check resistance. You can do the same with plug wires.

Detach the primary electical connector from the coil. Using the ohmmeter low scale, hook up the ohmmeter leads to the primary terminals on the ignition coil. (the 2 slots) The ohmmeter should indicate a very low resistance value. If it doesn't replace the coil.

Its hard to explain without showing u pictures or hands on. Hope this helps a little though.

You can also test by removing the coil wire and use your ohmmeter to test between the coil wire (secondary) terminal and to each of the 4 primary terminals, one at a time. Each reading should be ~8100 ohms on a stock coil.
