check valve adapters

I was looking at what I need to install my AS&M headers and one thing that I cannot find are GM check valve adapters. It says I'll need them for the installation on a 96-97 car. Does anybody know where I can get these, prices, what they are for, or where I can get them?

I went to my local Ace Hardware and got a brass compression fitting. I unscrewed the steel (stainless I believe) fitting that came out of the stock manifold (and into the AIR pump system)and took it in there. It does not leak and when I took it apart 2 years later it came apart nicely. However, I do not recall what the size was.

Do you guys think I would just be better off just taking the AIR pump system completely off?
