check PCM

Is there a way to check to see if a PCM is powering on without having it hooked to a vehicles harness?

My question would be "how are you going to power it up without connecting it to some kind of harness?".

I was thinking I could maybe wire up a fuse link with a power source and test. There has to be a way to build a bench tester for it.

Oh well just thinking.

Then by the same token, I guess you could hook up a scanner to it.

Shoebox, What would you say the problem is. I have power to starter and everything but nothing happens when i turn the key except starter engages but other than that no fuel pump or anything. I have juice every though. Checked all pins going to pcm that require it and checked grounds also. I also check fuel pump by jumping to it and giving it some power which turned it on. I have checked all fuses, relays, and power/grounds leading to pcm. Checked for any loose connections on everything. Replaced fuses just to ensure one wasn't partially bad (Though I tested them all with a tester).

What about your security system (VATS/PASSkey)? Any security lights or any of it disconnected? Any spark during cranking? What year car?

Sorry about the delay in response on my behalf.

I checked everything but the spark. That being said I assumed it was the PCM because I tried several times to connect using my Lt1 edit and other software but never got any connection (only keep trying to connect in the software). Seems the PCM just wasn't powered on. Yes, I had the ignition key in and on. Goodness knows I probably have a voodoo cursed pcm (lol). I tried dancing around the truck to scare off evil spirits also but to no preveal.

No security (VATS) on it. Disabled in PCM. 95z camaro in s10 blazer (88). No lights in dash as far security goes. Interior lights and dash lights works. Everything comes except pcm.
