check gauges light volt drop wtf ????help plz
hey whats up everyone ive been having a problem in my car since i bought it. i have a 1993 z28 and the problem is my check gauges light will come on at around 4,000 rpm til redline then turns off when it goes back down past 4,000. it seems to be charging fine (volts stay around middle line maybe a lil highger sometimes) but when it hits 4,000 rpm's the volt meter will actually drop about a quarter of an inch then goes back up when the rpm's go down. also when im racing and i go threw the gears since there reving high (past 4,000) the dash lights and such will dim and sometimes i have a sight miss (i guess from the sudden drop in volts) till rpms go down then there fine also when i rev it the lights will flicker. would this be something in the altenator perhaps internally my brother said it might actually be putting out to many volts or maybe a voltage regular or something inside. please if any one has any info or anything let me know thanks alot u guys are the best. btw it has a fresh tuneup,coil, and everything else including the battery, i think the altenator maybe stock. thnx, ls1sucks
