Check engine triggered by catalyst code

I am not sure what to do? I have checked everything the cats look new and I just put a new 80 series flowmaster on it. What else can cause the catalyst code to trigger the check engine light. All and any help would be appreciated.

The specific DTC would be helpful. Plus some info about your car.

1996 Z28 A4, pretty much stock other than California Highway patrol computer program. Runs great just throws the check engine light not sure the code number, however it just says catalysts. Hoep that helps you out!

Unfortunately it does not help enough. There are over 20 different codes for the O2 sensors. The code would tell which of 4 sensors indicated a problem. I am assuming O2, since you mentioned "catalyst".

Just a thought....check your fuses. I had an SES light come on and Thanks to Shoebox and co traced it to be the fuse for my air pump. Probably saved me several hundred dollars. Anyways it is worth a shot.
