check engine light, voltage drop

Heres the deal, its a 95 LT1 6 speed, well you can start the car up, and drive for maybe five minutes and the check engine light comes on, at the same time it turns the fan on, and the fan never turns off, no matter what temp it is. and it does those 2 things and the voltage drops and never comes back up its usually below the half mark. Other than that the car drives fine.

And no i havent had the codes checked yet.

Any insight would be helpful

Kevin

The insight will come when you have the codes checked. The fans come on when the SES does. That's normal.

Your 95 is OBDI but it has the OBDII connector. AZ can only scan OBDII. Go to a dependable independent garage to get it scanned correctly. There is this: http://www.iequus.com/product_info.p...gory_id=1_10_3

And depending on the loads that are turned on, the voltage drop is normal.

Or better yet buy a cable and scan it yourself using any of the free software out there. Plus you can probably use the cable down the road for your programming needs when/if you plan to mod the car. The voltage might just be reacting to the fans kicking on and have nothing to do with actual problem btw.
