check engine light!!!

ok i got the svc engine light scanned at my job (gm dealership) and it pulled up a code saying there's a fault in the EGR system.. anyone got any ideas on what it could be or what should be done before i go blowing more money on this old 95z.. just replaced the transmission with a bran new rebuilt by gm 4l60-e.. couldnt turn that down for the 100k mile waranty that it wont start slang banging into gears again but back to the egr.. could i possible just clean out the egr valve and hoses going to it and hope that stops the code from being tossed up and should i reset the battery after i do that to make sure the code isnt stuck in the ecu???

svc engine light only comes on randomly.. some days it doesnt show up at all

and i just noticed the egr valve isnt where it was on my v6 93 that i had.. where is it on the lt1?

Re: check engine light!!!

The EGR is on the back of the intake manifold...

You should really give us the code the scanner found, there can be more than one EGR code and you can end us spending money unnecessarily....

crap i'll have to have my buddy scan it again tomorrow then to get the code, would this have any effect on why my oil psi goes from 0 to regular 40 psi when i hit the gas??? if my engine is just idling the oil pressure is at 0 according to the gauge

Re: check engine light!!!

That would be unrelated. Is the check gauges light on when the oil pressure gauge reads zero?

no the oil pressure and check engine light have nothing in common as to either of em messing up... the oil pressure gauge has been doing that since i bought the car in 09

Low oil pressure is common at idle for LT1s

Re: check engine light!!!

DTC 32 indicates the PCM did not detect a change in the MAP reading when it cycled the EGR valve, which indicates the EGR system is not operating. Could be a crack in one of the vacuum lines to the EGR, a faulty EGR valve, dirty pintle on the EGR, failed EGR riser tube from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold.

so try cleaning the egr valve and hoses first before replacing anything???
