When a car runs RICH, black smoke pours from the tailpipes, not when it runs lean. By "skips", do you mean it misfires?

Before anyone can help you, we have to know the details of your car.... year, and any modifications being the most important. Not all years of the LT1 are the same, and by knowing the year, it may be easier to help you. This is particularly true when you say someone tried to pull the codes and found none. If, for example you have a 95, there is an explanation for this. If you had a 93, you wouldn't need someone to pull the codes, you could flash them on the SES light. If the SES light comes on, the code is stored, and should show up when you scan it.

Some of the new scanners are garbage and can't always get the codes. I had to go to 3 different stores before one would work correctly.

Its not a problem with the scanners.... its a problem with the person using the scanner.

I was the one using it each time. I don't think you were calling me an idiot or something like that so i will not take it too personal. The scanners at the Schucks around my town all had to return there old ones for some crappy cheap ones and they were having problems getting codes from vehicles. The older the car the worse. I believe some of the employees could mess it up so i know what you mean.

You mean you found a place that actually has OBDI scanning capabilities?

I've never found a scanner that didn't work correctly, when connected correctly to the correct model car. I did not use the word "idiot", so don't accuse me of something I didn 't do. I will acknowledge I'm not too familiar with "the Schucks around (your) town". When you use non-technical terms like "garbage" and "crappy cheap", you really lose your credibility.

I couldn't think of better words at the time and my spell check is not on this computer so i didn't want to miss spell any fancy words. I was actually trying to say i didn't take any or all of it personal. I only know one other guy who knows close to what you do so i would never do anything to get on your bad side.

you get what you pay for

there is a reason I get $100.00 to scan/diag engine lights -but be that as it may the best bang for the buck diag tool is "IN THE LIONS DEN" here in wash. state we got cool chasis dyno's and tail pipe(actually 4-gas analizers)sniffers open 6 days a week and you get TWO tests for $15.00 -much better info and equipment than ????? auto parts-most states have this at least near large smoggy cities. The only thing to watch out for is how much POWER these places have ,here they only say pass/fail and give you a sheet of paper -in calif. I think they have more juice because of CARB and the DMV

What year is the PCM from? Did the person trying to pull the codes realize that the 1995 chassis has an OBD-II style 16-pin ALDL connector, but an OBD-I PCM? Did they use an OBD-I scanner with the proper adapter to connect the 12-pin OBD-I scanner to the 16-pin ALDL?
