Cheap mods?

I have a 96 ta and i was wandering if there are any cheap mods I can do to gain some horse power. I already have a 160 t- stat, cold air and a cut out. If there is anything else I can do without spending alot please let me know. thanks.

do a search for "free mods", the hundreds of posts you get back should answer your questions.

Throttle Body Bypass

Manual Fan Switch

For the manual fan switch thing, the wiring goes from the ground to the switch to the relay wires (dk blue & green)- stick a light/led in-line with the switch for a little resistance in the circuit.

The only worthwile mod is the TB bypass. And since you have a 160° stat, the fan switch would help you out.

Invest some money in some 3.73 gears. Trust me, one of the best bang for the bucks you can do.

either buy a used cold air induction kit, or pull off the stock air box and clamp a 3.5" K&N cone filter (or other hi flow brand) to the stock air intake.

you'd be suprised how restrictive the stock airbox is, the cone filter will flow better and allow for cooler air to be drawn in from the wheel well and fender area.

you can also just pull off the front of the stock air box and cut the whole face of it off...but the cone will look better

I've already installed the fan switch but i keep getting a check engine light. I tried putting resistors in the lines but it would only work on the low speed. any ideas?

hmmm not sure about the check engine light, I just did the fan switch on mine and it works with no ses light. go here for a cheap ram air mod, but the gains are debatable.

oh and weight reduction is huge, back seats, passenger seat (race day only), front sway bar (may be dangerous for everyday driving), spare tire and jack, air and egr stuff (not sure if they weigh much but it will clean up your engine bay....im bout to do it to mine soon.), take out all stereo eqipment.........

but the next thing im doing is gears, tires, tune.....I think if you get the money those are the next best things, I think I can pull 13.5 or better after I do those.

Oh and learn to drive!!
