Chaos in Canada (story and questions)

Hi everyone, i have less than 500 miles on my cam only setup and i have been having a mysterious tick that i thought to be noise associated with my roller rockers. Being somewhat of a newb i didn't really know what rockers were supposed to sound like. Well today that tiny little tick turned into a extremely loud clack. I open up the valve cover and found a roller rocker(cylinder #4 exhaust) lying helplessly on its side and the rocker stud sheared off. The top of the stud was still inside the poly lock. The intake pushrod was also no where to be found, but the rocker was still tight against the poly lock. I took the intake off and found the pushrod snapped in half but things don't actually look that bad. It was a clean break and i found no metal filings. I am going to be extremely cautious in cleaning when i put things back together. Now to the questions. How hard should it be to compress a lifter. I am a big guy (6'4" 265) and i cannot compress the lifters is this normal? If a lifter collapsed or went solid could the stresses related to this new slack cause a 3/8 stud to break clean? The valves and springs are still good and compression is also still good so i don't believe that the valves hit the piston.
