Thumbs down Changing Wires and Plugs

I just finished changing my plus wires and am ready to fire up my Camaro. I am just wondering if there is a 9th wire to go to something simplar to a coil or somewhere?

I changed my factory cables to a 1mm thicker cable to 8. and it was a real challange getting the wires through and around the engine. The retaining clips didnt like the larger wires either but they worked. Only thing I needed to to remove is the altinator to make life easier.

I found a good site for mods of all sorts but also has info on spark plug wires.

The 9th wire (short with different boots) goes from the coil to the Opti.

You need to hook up the coil lead wire from the top of the Opti to the coil on the driver's side head.

Cutting in/out? You mean stumbling? If you say stumbling people will say your opti is dieing.

Im just doing the pcv and then the plugs. I had a shop run a test on my computer but they were having troubles with it. I later learned that they were trying to access the computer running 1997 camaro codes. Duh... haha I should take it back and tell them to re run the computer again!

I don't think your PVC would have that much of an adverse effect on your stumbling/missing. Scanning the car won't do any good either (and FWIW, 96 and 97 "codes" are identical, so your shop didn't do anything wrong).

Sounds like your Opti is dying, like Eric said. Also might want to check your fuel pressure to make sure your fuel pump/regulator are in proper working order.

Also check for a torn intake bellows.

I am going to change the pcv anyway, It should be easy I just have to find the thing haha. My friends convinced its the egr valve so I am going to block it off with a screw and see if that helps.

Plugs are nasty so thats my last resort. I bought platinum even tho I was told not to because apparently our province of BC has a additive in there fuel that sticks to the platinum plugs and kills them at 60k instead of 100k. Only province to have it. I went for the platinum anyways because its wasent much more expensive and lets face it, who likes to change there plugs often on these 350's? haha

I will see if the opti is dieing later, there is no real test to see if thats it... is there? I would think the 96 to 97 codes would be different because I believe the opti is not on the 97 among other things on the engine/computer? Will try the gas test as well later on. Thank god to the "Second Hand Owners" warrenty!!!

I heard or thought that from 97 and up they changed there system from opti to Im not sure what its called now. I know my 97 didnt have something similar if it was or wasent opti.

I fixed the stumbling problem by blocking off the egr valve so Im good to go!
