Changing Transmissions
Changing Transmissions
If I wanted to change my transmission because mine is failing. How should I go? Rebuild? Replace with the sameone from another TA/Z/whatever? Or go totally different tranny?
Re: Changing Transmissions
I would get an auto. All of my previous cars have been 5spds and i must say that the 4L60E transmission with stall and shift kit is far superior to a manual transmission IMO. I dont want to get flamed for saying that but they shift faster/easier, are more consistent, require much less effort when driving daily and only cost half as much as a 6spd.
Re: Changing Transmissions
What do you mean its failing? is it not shifting? Grinding? are you sure its the tranny not the clutch? The A4 is good if you're into racing but a swap is a lot of work, and some people have them rebuilt and they don't last or it takes several times to get them right. I would keep the 6spd as it would be a pain to swap it out.
Re: Changing Transmissions
Not going auto... EVER Just dislike Autos for driving. I'm going to get one when I get older and have 3 cars, about it.
But I mean just swapping T56's... mine with a duplicate one. How hard would that be?
