Re: changing oul pan gasket. . .

You pay someone to do it.... or,

Drop the Y-pipe, remove oil level sensor, remove torque converter cover (A4), remove motor mount bolts, jack motor up, remove oil pan bolts, drop oil pan, work old gasket out, clean sealing surfaces as much as possible, thread new gasket in place. Assembly is the reverse of removal

it's easier to pull the motor out and do it that way. Yeah it sucks.

Re: changing oul pan gasket. . .

I don't know if its because I have a 6-spd or not, but I did mine in 1.5 hours. I was also doing the motor mounts though, so I had one loose so I jacked one side of the motor up. You don't have to take the pan off all the way or slice the new gasket to put it in either, just slide the new gasket around the outside of the pan and it will go right into place...

i pulled the motor out to change my OIL pan gasket and yes you have to take the DIP stick out. it's possible to do it in the car but it is a pain. of course it's also a pain to pull the motor, you'll just have to decide what you want to do.

Probably easiest to drop the Kmember. However, its a piece of cake with a tubular Kmember .

Re: changing oul pan gasket. . .

I haven't had the bolt in mines for atleast 5 years now. No leaks from there at least from there.
