Changing my rear but staying with the 10 bolt

I blew my stock 10 blot rear. I'm only pushing around 350HP but the guy who owned it before me really beat on it. I am purchasing a used rear axle from a 97 Trans Am. Before I install it I want to bulk it up as much as possible. I am also changing the gear ratio to 3.73. What can I do to make it stronger?

Put good gears and center section in it. And start saving your money. If you don't launch hard or run sticky tires you will be OK for a long time. Put really sticky tires and launch really hard and you can kill it the first time out. That is just the nature of the 10.

i see no reason to "rebuild it". Or even replace the one you have if there aren't any problems..

Maybe jordan meant the 97 on eyou picked up? If it aint' broke don't fix it. Why wouldn't you just beef up your blown one if your going to buy new parts anyways, i don't see the point of buying the 97 one if your going to replace stuff on it anyways, just rebuild yours. Unless you literly 'blew' yours to pieces housing and alll

Did you check that the one from the 97 have the same traction control setup as yours?
