Changing 93 EMC to 94-95
Changing 93 EMC to 94-95
What all would be involved to changing a 93 over to a 94-94 ECM? I currently have the vented opti mod done, but tuning with chips is a PITA! So other then a ECM and MAS what else do I need?
Will it require a complete harness to go from batch fire to sequential?

Re: Changing 93 EMC to 94-95
tuning a 93 is simple with tunercat, the $DA3 ecm file, starting bin (like BLDL), pocket programmer 2 with some atmel 256 chips and a scanner. ive been doing it since MAF iroc-z's so chip tuning and changing the memcal is all nomal to me now.
Re: Changing 93 EMC to 94-95
I'm having lots of issues with injector pulse and the 2bar map under boost.
383 motor( 9:2 CR ), ATI SC with 15lb pulleys, 42lb injectors, AFPR, racetronixs 255GPH in tank pump. etc.
The troblem appears to be with the 2bar map? But having to constently pull the chip, burn it and reinstall it is a total pain.
Friend is actually doing the tuning (street tuning, not dyno W/wide band O2s).
Car is running real rich at low RPMs then goes way lean by 4000RPMs at 70% throttle and 3-4 lbs of boost.
We've been trying allot of different values for the injectors, timing etc. and nothing seems to be helping? Even moving the fuel pressure way up and turning the FMU all the way in doesn't seem to help any. But I really don't want to push the motor high into the RPM/boost with it already running lean.

Re: Changing 93 EMC to 94-95
You will need to work with the VE tables to get the fueling right.
To switch to a 94+ setup, if you have a manual, you will want a 94 M6 harness. They are hard to come by, but easiest for the swap.
There are two wires that need to be swapped around for your car to work. The wires are for fuel pump and serial data.
In addition to that, you will need to get heated o2 sensors and swap out the bottom plate of your throttle body with a 94+ one. Or you can cut the IAC connector off the 93 harness and swap it over to the 94 harness.
You will most likely need to convert to a 94-96 instrument cluster or just swap a 94-96 cluster circuit board into yours. (make sure if your cluster is 150mph, the 94-96 cluster is also 150mph if you're swapping boards only)
Some people say the 93 cluster will work, but I swapped mine anyway because I know a 94-96 cluster won't work on a 93. (93s have a tach filter in the harness so you normally have to remove it if swapping in a new cluster... or swap boards)
The swap will be harder with an automatic. You will either need a 4L60E, or you will need a different VSS. You might get it to work with some tuning though.
For what it's worth, I like both setups. I just hate that you can't calibrate the speedo on 93s through tuning. (at least not yet or not very accurate)

You just need someone who knows what thier doing with the 2 bar speed density stuff. Also, 42's are probally going to fall pretty short with 15lbs. It should be a piece of cake to get the car driving really nicely though.
