Change Cam bearings??

Re: Change Cam bearings??
depends on miles on how the oil press is. if its like 20 warm and 50 -60 normal driving you should be fine. i had only 65k miles on mine and wanted to change the cam and the bearings were shot so i just pulled it and rebuilt.

Re: Change Cam bearings??
You know I thought the same thing, so I wasnt planning on taking my 67K engine out to do my head and cam swap, but when i pulled the cam it was ridged and the bearings were pure copper with scratches I could catch my finger nail on. my oil pressure was great when warm it would never drop below 25 and during driving it would run all the way up to 55-60. I looked at the cam and cam bearings and was in pure shock. so friday I pulled it and looked at the crank bearings and they were perfect along with the cylinder bores(no lip, plenty of cross hatch). so I dontk now what the hell happened but dont just assume you can do the swap without looking at the bearings. I made that mistake and now my project deadline is getting pushed back
