Is ceramic coating necessary?

I just bought used MAC headers and some people say that I should get them coated. Why? I don’t care about look, just performance. IS this really necessary?

Having them coated helps them look better, as well as reduce the header heat in the engine comparment. Also helps prevent rust.

The coating will help keep the heat down in the engine bay and keep them from rusting up
