eastwood sells high temp header/manifold apint good to 1200+ degrees, I used it on manifolds, works grea,t but not sure if it could handle the heat from headers.

To properly paint headers you can't just paint right on them, you need to have them bare metal, and then cleanse the metal with some chemical prep, if you want it to stick. From there, paint technique (dont paint thick) is what will get it to stay.

Go ceramic if you can afford it.

Try www.Thermaltechcoatings.com. They ceramic coated my shortys for $130 shipped. One week turnaround. I love the look, and the coating really reduces underhood temps.
Give them a try.

Get them ceramic coated. They will dissapate heat faster and reduce the under hood temps. Beside the good looks

I painted mine and that was a big mistake. When I started the car the paint just started to burn right off and I had this nasty smell of it for like three days. Go with the coating it's so much better I wish I would have done it the first time.

Never had a problem using silver VHT heat paint, works great on cars I have had I don't care too much about. I would get ceramic coating on something that you view as a keeper.

Actually, ceramic coating is there to RETAIN heat. This way besides cooler underhood temps, you make a little more power from exaust velocity improvement. Leaking heat, is leaking power... With the way many of our headers like to burn plug wires, I think its best to get them coated, even if you have to wait to afford it. Plus the headers will last much better this way, instead of hating them a few years down the road because they are near death.
