Centerforce Clutch ????

I've got a 97 Formula that is about to have between 425 or 450 to the rear wheel. I need to know what clutch I should go with. I've heard about a few people having problems from the Centerforce Dual Friction and was looking for the best clutch for the job. Street Racing ofcourse.

My recommendation would to be do it right the first time and to go with a McLeod Street Twin. No need to waste your money with other clutches such as Centerforce.

If you got $$$, get the Street Twin.
If you don't got much $$$, get a Spec Stage 3 Ceramic. Thats what I got.

I hear a lot of 'horror' stories from reading this board about the centerforce clutch. Corvette guys like them, however they tend to break apart in f-body's.... Something about the way it's manufactured for the F-Body. *shrug*

Don't get a centerforce. Mine is coming out on Thurs. and being replaced by a McLeod street twin. Do it right the first time and go with the McLeod.

Go with a stage 3 ceramic, don't mess with centerforce.

I've had no problems with it... It will probably slip once I put full timing and 500rwhp are punched... we'll see...

Actually ... is there any replacement disc that is better than the centeforce but still uses the same pressure plate???

The Centerforce Dual Friction disc is actually pretty weak IMO. It uses stock friction material on one side, and they cut up stock material and put it in pieces on the other.

The pressure plate design of adding the weights to make more pressure on the disc via centrifical force is debatable on wheter or not it actually does anything or not.

Many people have had problems with their stuff on this board. Doa search for Centerforce and see what you come up with.

SC1 is talking about mine...

blew out a few weeks ago and finally pulled it tonight...the disc material on the pressure plate side just completely broke apart in a 5" section. i can take pics if you dont believe me. btw, the clutch has less than 30k miles on it, w/ only 3k miles on the heads/cam w/ less than 400rwhp

moral of the story: Centerforce = P-O-S!

im sorry, but IMO, street twin is a waste of money and overkill for my setup. a buddy of mine w/ a 440 rwhp LT4 Vette has been using a stock clutch for years w/ out problems...

clutch

I just put in a borg and beck anyone ever hear of that brand. It seems to release high and doesn't bite the way I'd like it to. But then again it's hydrolic!!!
