CC503 with 1.6 Rockers??

Alrite so, I took the LT1 to the track a couple weeks ago, and pulled off some OK times. Basically mid to low 14's on street tires, so I'm pretty confident I could get it in the high 13's with some DR's. At this point the Car has a CAI and a Catback,,, thats it. Its a Manual 6 car with 3.42's I believe.

As of 3 weekends from today,,,,

IT will have the

1.) cc503 Cam
2.) 1.6 RR's
3.) Valve Springs, lifters etc.
3.) Pacesetter LT's
4.) Full Exhaust
5.) Cutout.

I have 2 questions.

1.) Will adding the 1.6 RR's to the CC503 on stock heads be to much lift for the stock LT1 heads to handle? or will it give me the better performance over the 1.5's? and finally.... would it be worth my time to pull the heads, and have them ported/gasket matched while everything is off????

2.) Any prediction on times?

Since you have a six speed, the first thing I would do is put in some 4.10 gears. I went from running 14.20s to 13.50s with just a gear swap, not even sticky tires. After Pacesetter LTs and MT ET Street bias plys, I consistently run 13.20's to 13.00's, all stock engine internals. If you do a CC503 (with gears also), you should be running mid to low 12's easily.

Really? Thats pretty good. I was thinking of doing the gear swap, but didn't know what gas mileage id be getting on the highway.

So do you shift into 4th then at the track,, like close to the end? or do u leave it in 3rd? Whats your MPH times?

What Gears are best with the CC503 Cam? would 4.10's be the best?

the only way your going to run low 12's is with a great 60ft. Like a 1.65-1.75. I dont know what you can cut already but breaking 1.8's with a m6/10 bolt car is not easy. More like very hard. Even with Dr's, your either spinning or bogging.

How much drag racing experience do you have?

Is your rear end stock?

Hmmm, I got what your saying.

I have descent experience. I used to have a 383 Iroc, but of course it was an auto. I can't remember my 60 foot times on my first runs out, but i think it may have been 1.8-2.0's.

But what about the gear? Is 4.10 the best for the 503, or is 3.42 good?

Hey, u think? Some say the 3.42 are the best of both worlds, but I guess with a 6 speed, you have alot of gears so,,,, anyway.

Curious, what does that thing run,,,, the mods in your sig are very similar to what im hoping to accompish. Youve got a M6 as well,,, so you have the 4.10's?
Let me know how she runs.....

I just got my CC503 installed this past weekend with 1.6 RR, so no problems there. The rockers add more lift to the cam to the tune of .535/544 I think. I know you are concerned about gearing and that you have a manual but I know that this cam with my 3k stalled auto and 3.73 is awesome. Also, with some tweaking of the tune I have damn near ZERO cam surge. You won't be disappointed

What's the part's list for this cam install and the total cost for the cam exchange? What all did you change; cam, rollers, pushrods(?) and are the self-aligning or non-aligning and you added the guide plates.

I've got my engine out and am batting around doing a cam if I can squeeze out the dollars.

I got discounts on all my parts as I bought my rockers used from a friend and have another friend who works the parts counter so I can't really say what the total price would be. My list of parts was something like this though: Cam, Rockers, Springs with locks, retainers etc..., Pushrods, Lifters, Timing chain, guideplates, plugs, wires, tune, dyno time to make sure its right, all new gaskets, seals etc.... I had a pretty extensive list but its better to get it all done and do it right the first time.

With my 4.10's, I usually 60' around 1.85 sec. That's not dumping the clutch either, but a quick slip. Launching at 5000 RPM can get me as low as 1.72 sec. M/T ET Streets (bias ply, not radial) work really well, I don't even have to do a burn out most of the time. As for shift points, I generally shift around 5500 RPM, go through the traps in 4th gear around 5300 RPM.
