cc306 is too aggressive , what are my other options?
okay so my motor is at the machine shop and i was talking it over with the guy and told him i have a cc306 i wanted to use, and we were going over the springs required and the general driveability of it and im at the point where now is the time to change it instead of down the road..the car is going to be a daily driver, but also needs to beat my friends mustangs and some highway strangers.
i dont want to pick a cam for how it sounds, but i like lazy cams and midrange power. hope i didnt confuse you guys to death, any ideas?

Re: cc306 is too aggressive , what are my other options?
What modifications do you already have? Displacement? Compression? Heads? Gears? Converter? Stick? Bolt on's? We need to know all of these to see how the car will act.
I daily drove a CC306, didn't both me at all, but I knew what I was willing to give up. With a camshaft like that you're going to trade off more than you gain.
The XE503 is a good daily driver camshaft for a 350-355 cubic inch motor. Good performance, good drivibility, decent mileage, not much loss of low end. The Hotcam, XE502 and Lunati 60121 is also in that category.
When choosing a camshaft you must also know your valvetrain budget and where you want to make power.

Re: cc306 is too aggressive , what are my other options?
Depending on your setup, a 306 is nothing to be afraid of. I drive mine all over the place. I run a tight 3200 Performabuilt Billet converter with 3.73's and driving around town is great. The cam gives you room to grow, plus you already own it so you won't have to spend another $300 to buy another one.
Everyone will try to make you scared of this cam. At least that's what is common around here. There are countless 400+rwhp (A4 and M6) LT1 cars that have utilized this cam. If you have a good tune, there is no sacrifice in driveability.
