CC306 & springs question ---->
Ok, I have a question about what kind of valvesprings to use with the CC306
Can I use the LT4 locks/retainers/roller rockers but update the springs to these :
CCA-941-16 COMP Cams Valve Springs
Valve Springs, Single, 1.260 in. Outside Diameter, 447 lbs./ in. Rate, 1.130 in. Coil Bind Height
---------------
Basically I'd be using the LT4 hot cam kit, without the cam, and without the LT4 springs. Just putting in a cc306 cam, with upgraded springs listed above.
Thanks in advance!

Re: CC306 & springs question ---->
Everything "should" work ok. All you really need to look into is the diameter of the raised part of the valve retainer on the bottom what sits down inside the spring. The Comp 941 springs have a .876 inside diameter. So if the retainers diameter of that part is less than .876 then you will be ok. Another thing to consider though is the fact that those springs are a single spring. If you happen to break a valve spring there is a much greater chance that the valve could fall down and contact the piston. Just something to think about. Hope that helps.

Cool. I was just making sure there wasnt anything I left out that you needed to know. I havent personally used LT4 retainers with other springs. But I am about to use my Crane retainers with a set of K-motion springs. I hope it works. If not I guess Ill be buying another set of retainers.

Re: CC306 & springs question ---->
check the rockers before you decide to put them on. i switched my springs and now i can't run SA rockers any more. i had to reuse the stock rockers on a 306 cam until i can get together the rest of my guideplates and pushrods. the retainers that come with the springs are shallow and will not clear the "lips" or whatever they're called. they actually rest on the retainer. i have some 1.6 NSA pro magnums but am waiting on GPs and pushrods.

*HIJACK*
I have some questions on this topic also.
I have a complete lt4 hotcam kit but I want to switch to the cc306 also. I heard I shouldn't (or cant) use SA RR with the 306, is this true? I have the same question as him, what exact must be changed from the hot cam kit to run the 306 reliably?
Second question: Is it true you don't use guideplates with SA rockers?
Thanks in advance!
*UPDATE* The hotcam kit has never been run yet so no parts are worn.

Re: CC306 & springs question ---->
Don't use guideplates with sa rockers. Also I have personally ran sa rockers on an 847 cam, and my buddy has ran them on a GTP-6 cam with no problems at all. There are certain titanium retainers that are larger than the steel ones and those are the only ones I have seen interfere with sa rockers.

Hell Im running my stock rockers with a CC306 cam. I know its not a good idea but they have been in there for 50,000 miles without any issues involving the rockers. Hopefully soon Ill be able to afford some full roller 1.6s.
