is the cc306 a good daily driver cam?
are you planning on getting your head p/p as well? many do not recommend gettin such a big cam without doing heads too. with the cc306 you will have a loss of vacuum, which will make your brakes and power steering suck. just do a search you will find all kinds of info on all different cams. just to name a few popular cams: cc305, LT4 hotca, XE224/230, and many others....you should do headers b4 a cam because it will let your motor breath better...IMHO
While I'm sure there will be numerous posts about the 306 being a great daily driver cam, recall that the definition of "daily driver" is very loose and subjective. So what is a great daily driver set-up for one maybe a nightmare mistake for the next.
In my opinion and definition, the 306 is not a daily driver cam

Well I might be the only one that likes it for a daily driver but oh well. If you get a good dyno tune it will be a good daily driver. Before my dyno tune I had a PCM4less tune and it was running really rich and had a lot of cam surge under 2k in any gear. After the dyno tune the cam surge is gone and so is the running rich. But like they said once you push in the clutch to stop the brakes arent as strong as before but its not that bad. Just my opinion since I have it and drive it almost everyday.
Look at my sig. IMO the 306 makes a good daily driver. I agree about the loss of vacuum, but if you live in the suburbs, it's not too bad (not sure where the power steering came in, I thought it was hydraulic). You could use it with stock heads, but why. You will only realize the full potential of the cam with heads and LT's. You will also need a good tune (I have pcm4less and it is adequate). You will lose a little gas mileage (I lost about 3 mpg). I think you would be very happy with a 306, it sounds totally badazz and pulls like a m-----f----r in the upper rpm range. Did not notice a significant loss of low end torque as somebody have complained about. 306 =
... u can run it on stock heads all u want ...
the ONE THING THAT MOSTLY MATTERS is ur gears . with a CC306 i woudlnd run anything but 4.10s (and if ur auto 3.73s with at least a 2800 stall)
so if u want them on the street .. 4.10s are a MUST ...
trust me .. personal experience .. i had my CC306 on 3.42s, 3.73s and now 4.10s .. never been happier.
ps. my car ran 117 mph with the CC306 and 3600# race weight
.. thats UNTUNED .. STOCK TUNE !!!
once i hit the dyno and lose some weight im looking for 119-120 mph NA on the CC306
it pulls like a raped ape

Well it's good enough for 111 mph. Thank god jet-hots are on the way.
i love it
its the first cam (aftermarket) i have in this car and no complaints here, but i cant compare it to any others cause i havent tried any others. im in traffic about everyday , theres some surge but its not too bad. havent had any steering problems. the brakes feel the same as before as well ( havent really went out and measured my braking distance, you know?
). the power is aewsome though
i guess like someone else said, "depends whta you consider a good/bad daily driver"

I don't drive my car everyday but I think that it will be fine as a daily driver as long as you:
-Get 4.10's
-Dyno tune
-Good valve springs
-good push rods
-Heavy duty timing chain
-Sticky tires
I experienced no loss of braking with the cam, something I was really concerned about. It is a little rough between 1500 and 1800 rpms but you get use to it. Also plan on reving it to at least 6000 rpm to get as much out of it. I am running it to 6700 rpm and the power is still there on the dyno graph.
By the way the numbers in the sig. are with stock LT4 heads.

i would get a dyno tune, but im having trouble finding someone in the area that has lt1 edit, im trying to make my budget for everything under 1500. i wont mind a little cam surge, but what would i have to bump the rev limiter to to get the most out of the cam but not make my motor go boom??? i may just go with the lt4 hotcam or 305, which of those 2 is the best for my car??

1fast95Z: sure u can even drive it with 2.73s .. its doable .. but a pain in the **** ...
RealQuick: i run a set of MTI + GTP + flowtech ported LT4s (yeah their the ***** of the nation... been molested by almost all head porters)
they flow 302 / 234 @ 600
