CC306 or Comp 227/233

Which cam is better for me, Not porting heads, but doing RR and everything else and headers. How do they compare? Idle difference? Cam surge?

they're very different cams, the CC306 has a 230/244 duration if i remember right, definitely not a smooth idle-friendly cam. if your plan is a daily driver with a streetable idle and less cam surge, i'd definitely go with the 227/233, you can make good power with stock heads with that and it will be plenty if you port your heads later on. hope this helps.

Re: CC306 or Comp 227/233

For a daily driver without ported heads I would go with the 227/233 XE grind. I have this camshaft in my ported heads, M6 car right now and it is about to come out. There is nothing wrong with the cam, but I just bought a 2000 SS to drive and I plan to make my LT1 car a little more wicked:) The CC306 could be used, plenty of people run one in stock headed cars, but to be honest the 227/233 would be way more practical and still make good power. My current combo put down 356hp/350tq through a 12 bolt and I don't have all of the bolt-ons on the car, so the 227/233 has some potential.
