cc306 in a 383?
Re: cc306 in a 383?
I've never heard of a cam rubbing on a rod.. maybe the rod being too long and the lift on the cam being too big making the valves to colide with the piston heads, but from my understanding a couple mechanics told my buddy a CC306 would work nicely on a 383 due to the high duration. Not sure how much validity there was in that advice.

cc 306 is a decant cam but you can make more power with a much broader rpm range if you go with a custom grind, especially if you have any head work done. I would check out either Lloyd Elliot’s or advanced inductions cams, either of those are making really nice #'s. And I wouldn’t worry about the rod hitting
, concern yourself with the piston to valve clearance, that is where you can run into a problem sometimes.

actually some rods will not clear the cam...thats why they make small circle base cams. they only way is to install the cam or ask the manufacturer if it will clear the name brand or custom cam you got from someone else.
oh yeah...that cams too small for a 383. i think its just about right for a 350/355 but thats just me.
