cc305 cam question + valve springs

Hey guys. Want to get something other then an Lt4 hot cam kit I think. I like the XE grinds, but the local shop here has a cc305 cam, matching valvesprings (supposedly fit stock head, is this true?), retainers, keepers, seals, non-sa RR and guideplates, and the price is right. I am looking for something that I don't have to mod the head to install, something I can do with the motor in the car.
What other valvesprigns are good for LT1s and can be used on stock heads?

I want to convert to vented opti, and might as well do this while I have to change the cam, why not!

How much gain do you guys think I'll get. I was thinking 2, maybe 3 tenths with the mods in the sig plus this cam.

Are any other cams a better choice and still allow use of stock heads? (stock valvesprings size that does NOT require machining). Thanks.

For your cc305 cam with 1.5 RR you will yield around 510 Lift on the intake and exhaust. If you are sticking with 1.5 rocker arms then you can do what i did. Get the Lt4 springs that are rated for .525 lift and they will do fine. OR if you plan to use 1.6 Roller rockers go to combination motorsports and get thier springs for 90 bucks which includes retainers/locks. The combination motorsports springs are rated for .600 Lift and Both the Cmotorsports springs and Lt4 Springs WILL fit a stock head with no machining (have installed the cmotorsports springs on my friends stock headed car with No problems at all). You can get the Lt4 Springs from Scoggin Dickie for under 40 bucks.

Hope that helps,
Claude

How do you like that cam? What about a set of comp springs that are recommended for that cam? Thanks.

I would not bother with the Comp Cam springs because they are the most expensive option out of the 3 and I am not sure if the head needs to be machined so the springs fit correctly.

I do like the cam but I wish I would have went bigger like the 224/236 cam on a 114LSA. My car has a blower on it so I need a numerically higher LSA, yours may need some less depending if you are sticking with the NA set up. I like the cam and the reason I ended up using it was because the cam was FREE, it came with my Short Block when I bought it so I kept it in there but if I had the money at that time and could do it all over again, I would go with something bigger. Its kinda hard to let you know how good I think this cam is cuz when I swapped motors, I changed too many variables (Like Long tube headers, a Bigger 383 motor, the cam but the compression was lowered to ~9:1) so its kinda hard to judge how well I like the cam (powerwise). It does have a nice Lopey Idle.

Mabee someone else can jump in that only did that swap and can tell you what they gained.

I had the CC305 in the last motor. I just used the ISKY springs off thunder racing they were good up to .550 and I used a 1.6 rocker which I think mad the gross lift in the .530's range. The car made good power with no problems..... from the tops side of the motor

So you can hear a cc305 idle? I might just get a 230/236 cam cut on a 112 lsa, maybe 114. I just want to make sure that I can run a cam with springs that will bolt onto the motor without head work. I am thinking spray in the near future, but not sure yet. The cc306 is another option, but might be way too big for the stock heads. Anyone know the part number on those crane springs that work well with LT1s. So what are my options:

Comp Springs (expensive)
Thunderracing ISKY spring
Cmotorsports springs

My problem is I live in Canada. Shipping, duty and brokrage fees sometimes change things dramatically. I would like a spring I can get here locally. Thanks guys.
