CC 306 Cam with Stock Heads?

Will it work? Does any one have a setup like this? One of the guys I work with use to work at a performance shop and said they did it all the time. Can anyone give me any feedback on this please. Thanks

Yes it will work, although you won't get nearly the full potential of the cam without some porting work done. There are a few guys on here that run that setup, some trapping over 112mph in the 1/4 I believe.

I don't recommend putting a 306 in an auto, but it will make tons of power up top.

I plan on putting in a 3,200 stall before I get the cam.

I started installing mine this weekend. Almost time to put the cam in. I said screw it and went for it. I am still running 2.73s out back and the stock stall. I'll be sure to post how it turns out. Might be good might be bad. Dont know. I plan on doing heads and stall this winter though. Once I break the rear is when I will get 3.73s

Cool, Thanks man, let me know how it runs without tuning. It will be a little while after I get the cam and stall in that I will actually be able to tune it. After I do the cam and stall I will be doing full exhaust including LT's.

An M6 won't need tuning (to be driveable), but I believe (pure speculation) an auto would. You really don't wanna lug that cam - it doesn't like it. You just don't have the control of your rpms that an M6 gives you.

But hey, only one way to find out!

A cc306 on stock heads is a bit much. The stock LT1 aluminum heads flow 220 cfms intake stock. You will have to change valve springs, and do tuning perferably (PCMFORLESS.COM) and still wont get the full use out of the cam. Yes it has been done with good results. Great lope and sound but I even oppted not to use it on a 350 and I run ported 190cc AFR heads flowing 280 cfm's intake, and 199 cfm's exhaust due to the drivability. The cc306 is a great stroker cam and nitrous cam. I am building a 355 ci and further porting my AFR's and am concidering a cc306 but not for sure. A Hotcam or a Comp Cam extreme energy cam (224/230) is a better option. Just my opinion. Good luck

I am having it tuned by PCM4less. For $100 you can't beat it. Especially like someone said, with the auto there is going to be more problems at idle. My buddy's car runs ok with a hot cam and no tuning but the gas mileage is like 10 i think he said.

Hopefully I can pull some nice times out of it. Cam is going in today after work hopefully and back up and running by Sunday if all goes as planned.
