CC 305...What Springs?
CC 305...What Springs?
I posted this in a new thread to get more views. What springs should i use with a CC 305? I found online that you need Comp Cam part number #986-16 springs. But I could not find anywhere that sells them online. I found some on the board but the seller noted that they are not stock diameter and need machine work to fit?
Where can i find springs that will work that i do not need machine work for?
Thanks

Re: CC 305...What Springs?
Get ahold of Combination Motorsports. They will have what you need and suggest the best for your setup. I used them when i did my CC305 and the springs they suggested are what i went with.
Re: CC 305...What Springs?
When I did my cc305 install I contacted comp cams and got the spring recomendation from them, which was the comp 986-16. I just ordered all my valve train parts thorugh summit racing, unless they con't carry them anymore.

I found them at summit. Thank you. Did you have to have machine work so they fit?

Re: CC 305...What Springs?
Get the Beehive spring, COMP CAMS 915 or 918. It is a lighter spring , and has a lighter retainer which means less HP needed to compress them, which is more HP for you, and they can rev to a higher RPM without valve float.
Also, no machine work needed.

Thanks, do you know where the cheapest place to buy the 918 spring is? I am having trouble trying to find that also.
Maybe I am retarded but i have looked at combination motorsports, tbyrne, summit, and thunder racing and having found them there? Where did you guys get them from.
Edit - I just found them on comp for 228.96
That is way out of my price range. Any other options?

Re: CC 305...What Springs?
I did some more searching on this board and a few have mentioned this package:
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...h.asp&N=400078
You get everything needed for 147 bucks. Would that kit work?
Also, somebody mentioned the EX-612-16 Kit from combination motorsports that i am currently having trouble finding...go figure...would that work also?

COMP Cams sells them, like 180.
Big thing is make sure you get the right retainers. Make sure they know you have an LT1. The valve stems in LT1 are thicker than LS1's, which these springs were intended for. Go to the
