CC 242/248 vs. 248/254

Both are shelf cams:

242-248/.570-.576/112

vs.

248-254/.576-.582/112

Who's run either of these solid rollers? This is going in a 12:1 383. I want to run the bigger cam, but if it needs to be shifted after 7000RPM, no can do because of the stock PCM.

Well that really depends on the entire combination of parts, heads/intake/exh, and chassis setup.

If you're looking for a shelf solid, if it were mine with a nice set of LT1's, I'd probably run something like a 252/258-110

They're locally ported stock castings. The shop claims 290 CFM, so I take it they really flow 250 - 260. The intake manifold is port matched to the heads and the exhaust is a Hooker long tubes and dumping out a cut out. And oh yeah, 4.10 gears and no weight removal.

The biggest concern is compatability with the stock PCM. Comp lists the operating range as 3000 - 7000 RPM. Does that mean power peaks at 7000 or that's where it should be shifted?

Thanks.

I know Kmook was going to run the smaller cam in his 350 before things went down hill. I would call Comp and see what they have to say or maybe TR, CMotorsports, etc.

I ran a 242/248 585/586 112lsa solid roller in my stock 350. I cant comment on if it was to big or to small since i never got a chance to run it hard.

What RPM did you shift it at?

Is the 122lsa a misprint?
