Catback exhaust reccomendations?

What kind of catback exhaust systems are you guys running? Im looking for something thats fairly loud when you get on it, but isnt gonna drone a lot at freeway speeds. If money was no object, id go with Corsa, but 800 bucks is too rich for my blood, id rather spend int he 300 dollar range.

TIA

I just installed a Hooker catback and was somewhat disapointed. It isn't quite loud enough for me. Some people won't agree but to me it sounds almost like the stock setup. It's very mellow at idle and doesn't really open up until around 2.5k. It fit pretty well, I had a slight alignment issue where the I-pipe bolted to the cat but not enough to cause an exhaust leak. Also the two outlet pipes coming off the muffler weren't exactly squared with the car so one side sticks out more than the other. It has a nice mellow sound but again, it could be louder, could be deeper.

I went ahead and ordered myself a GMMG chambered system last week. It's all stainless steel (which hooker is not) and from what I hear it had an awesome sound. I'm told it has next to zero drone at any speed and has a very deep muscular rumble. I figure since I'm planning on keeping my car for a while I might as well get what I want even if it does mean spending a few hundred more.

But if you're looking for something around $300 I'd check out Magnaflow. I've heard great things about their system and it's what I would be putting on my car if it weren't for the GMMG. I don't know whether it's stainless steel or not but from what I'm told it's louder than the Hooker.

Anyways, that's my .02.

I have a flowmaster muffler at the moment, but this week I am getting a magnaflow cat-back. It is a good deal, going to get it for $280. I have a buddy with an 01 Ramair M6 TA and was driving it yesterday and he has one. It sounded great, not too loud at idle, pretty quite, but when you get on it at around 3000rpm it starts screaming. It is a nice looking system too, 3.5 stainless tips. I am looking forward to getting it this week.

True duals with chambered mufflers would be kinda cool.

well if it fits those LS1 cars it will fit your LT1 car. I don't think the LS1 driveshaft would be much bigger if any than the stocker. I don't know though never seen them side by side.

i support the loudmouth also...but then again i dont really plan on gettin into headers....for one thing, emissions...cant go long tubes, so why even go shorties or mids atleast from what i've read...plus gettin em installed would cost some cash....plus it would be unreal-loudness...

so if you are stickin with stock manifolds...the loudmouth is a best damn bang for the buck....3" wide open stainless steal..i picked mine up for $100 used....

its not bad on the highway but then again ive got the m6...so im only revin liek 1800 goin 70 mph in 6th...i just turn the tunes up a bit and im fine...well good luck....

also i had the magnaflow muffler on my stock i-pipe..it sounded good...here are some clips..im sure the catback sounds similar...

Ramdom Technoligies Stainless Steel. Low rumble/growl at idle, sounds awesome at WOT, and doesn't drone too bad at all on the highway. I can say that too because I used to have a flowmaster muffler on the car. THAT droned.

SLP 2OTL!

It's not very loud at light throttle and below 2000rpm cruising speeds, but when you go full throttle, it's got a nice loud rumble to it.

The stock steel LT1 DS is 2.5", while the stock aluminum LS1 DS is 3.0".
