Cat. Converter Bolts go *snap* *snap* (Exhaust question)
So, I am planning to install a Flowmaster cat-back on my `95 Z28, and I decide to prep the bolts with liquid wrench to work the rust loose them. A little later, I decide to try to loosten the bolts. The first bolt put up a pretty good fight, but I ended up snapping that one off at the converter with alot of effort. The second one, apparently intimidated by what happened to the first one, snapped like a twig, this time at the intermediate pipe flange.
I know this happens to alot of people. What do you guys do? Do you drill out the bracket on the converter, and just use a nut and bolt to secure it, since the converter bracket isn`t threaded after drilling? I thought of just replacing the y-pipe and using an aftermarket converter, but I am worried about snapping the studs at the manifolds, so I dont want to do that.
Also, I have two of the 15mm bolts left to remove from the bracket going from the converter to the transmission. Any tips on how not to break these?
Thanks!
